Almost every type of carpet is prone to developing carpet seams. They tend to disrupt the presentation of the entire carpeted flooring. Seams are the unwanted wrinkle-like folds that are seen along the carpet surface. With some easy carpet repair tips and by choosing the right method for laying the carpet, this problem can be resolved or even avoided.
When Laying the Seam
Do not place the seams in very high-traffic areas, this will be a mistake.
Always avoid placing seams in a direction perpendicular to the door entrances.
Use seaming tape for measuring the length of the carpet seam.
When laying the carpet, stretch it parallel to the seam and not across. This will directly reduce the pressure on the seams and reduces their peaking
Liberally use plenty of the carpet backing for the adhesive transfer.
For proper adhesive transfer - always press the carpet upon the adhesive. Use seam rollers for completing the task.
The adhesive side of the seaming tape should always be facing up.
Use a high-density cushion under the carpet for minimizing any movement in the carpet seam.
