Buying New Carpet From A Carpet Wholesaler!

When you are purchasing carpet from carpet wholesalers, it is not an easy task as you would think. By purchasing your new carpet directly from the manufacturer, the buyer often needs to open an account with the mill, and maintain an open account. There are other variables and here are some important questions to ask the wholesaler when considering becoming a direct customer.

Does the price of the carpet also include the padding and the installation? If it does not, then you will need to inquire how much extra it will cost you for these. Some carpet wholesalers are selling directly to companies that re-sell the product, and they install it with their own people. Just because a wholesaler may sell directly to you, doesn't mean they will install it.

What kind of warranty comes with the carpet, and for how long? Does this warranty protection also include coverage for the padding? Is the warranty also applied to the installation as well?

Can you borrow some samples of different carpets to take home and compare? A retail carpet store will do that because it is part of their business, but maybe the wholesaler only deals in huge rolls of each carpet, and they don't provide tiny swatches or samples of the carpet. It is a good idea to find out.

In the event that the wholesaler will install the carpet for you, or provide a hired service to do so, is there a charge for having them remove the old carpeting? Is there also a charge for any furniture that might need to be moved during installation? You never know until you ask.

Does the price of the new carpet include any stripping at thresholds? Does the price also include the wrapping of any stairs? These are two more things that you need to know, because if this is not included, it could affect the cost of the job.

Be sure to ask these questions and any others that you might come up with, to ensure that you pay the price that you are planning on paying and to make sure that you are not charged for any extras without your knowledge.

Buying directly from carpet wholesalers can often be an affordable alternative when purchasing new carpet for your home but as always, you have to do your research and be completely sure that you have any and all questions answered before signing the contract on the "proverbial" dotted line.
